ICE Verifier Training (Furman University)

TRAINING provided by GVL Rapid Response Hotline

Follow on Instagram here. Follow on Facebook here.

NOTE: Registration is required here.

Help our targeted neighbors feel safe and supported—become a critical part of a rapid response network! Get trained to head out in the field to help verify ICE sightings in Upstate SC.

Now through February, the GVL Rapid Response Hotline is hosting 7 verifier trainings for community members who want to stand with and support our immigrant community. No prior experience necessary!

Based on a model that’s been very successful in NC, we aim to hold ICE accountable and stop racial profiling. Their policing theatrics are intimidating, cause chaos, and create fear in immigrant communities. They are purposely sowing distrust, and the individuals in this agency are not following the law nor due process.

FAQs

What are the requirements for someone to be a verifier? You should have your own transportation, attend at least one in-person training, and be comfortable speaking with ICE if approached.

Why aren’t you providing an address? How will I know where to go for the training? For security purposes, we will email the address to you after you register.

IMPORTANT

Exact location will be emailed once registration is complete.

All information entered into the form will be kept strictly confidential.

The trainers are a small group of volunteers, so please be patient and know they will be in touch as soon as possible with next steps.

Drinking Liberally of Greenville Weekly Gathering

THIS EVENT is SPONSORED by the GREENVILLE CHAPTER of DRINKING LIBERALLY.

All liberal minded people are invited to attend the weekly social gathering of the Greenville Chapter of Drinking Liberally.

The local group is now meeting on Weds. from 6-8PM at Otherlands Brewing, 731 Rutherford Road.

Please come prepared to share your wit and wisdom as we discuss current events from a progressive, liberal perspective!

Please note that our agreement with Other Lands comes with a few stipulations:

  • No outside food or drink, please!

  • In lieu of paying them to rent the space, they’re letting us pay our way in food and drink–so if you join us, please chip in by having something to eat or drink!

  • Please note that, as part of their rental policy, all tabs will have a 20% gratuity added to them. If you find that burdensome, you may want to bring cash and pay as you go.

Free America - Walk Out - Walk In

Free America - Walk Out - Walk In

SPONSORED by INDIVISIBILE UPSTATE

“On January 20 at 2 PM local time, participants across the country will walk out of work, school, and commerce. The idea behind this action is that a “Free America” begins the moment people withdraw their cooperation from systems they view as oppressive.

Alongside the walkout, people are encouraged to take part in civic engagement by visiting their local congressional offices. Constituent office visits are a long‑standing democratic tool that allow individuals to share concerns directly with their elected officials. The walkout disrupts the normal routines of power to highlight the stakes, and contacting congressional representatives makes clear the reasons behind that disruption.”

For more information, check out Indivisible Upstate’s event listing here.
